Sonnet 116
William Shakespeare
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand’ring bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me prov’d,
I never writ, nor no man ever lov’d.
Captain Corelli’s Mandolin
Louis de Bernieres
Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your root was so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is.Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being in love, which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches, they find that they are one tree and not two.
1 Corinthians Chapter 13
I Will Be Here
Steven Curtis Chapman
Tomorrow morning
If you wake up
And the sun
Does not appear
I will be here
If in the dark
We lose sight of love
Hold my hand
And have no fear
Because I will be here
I will be here
When you feel like being quiet
When you need
To speak your mind
I will listen
And I will be here
When the laughter turns to crying
Through the winning, losing and trying
We’ll be together, because I will be here
Tomorrow morning
If you wake up
And the future
Is unclear
I will be here
As sure as seasons
Are made for change
Our lifetimes
Are made for years
So I will be here
I will be here
So you can cry on my shoulder
When the mirror
Tells us we’re older
I will hold you
And I will be here
To watch you grow in beauty
And tell you all the things
You are to me, I will be here
I will be true
To the promise I have made
To you and to the one
Who gave you to me
I will be here
And just as sure as seasons
Are made for change
Our lifetimes are made for years
So I will be here
We’ll be together, I will be here
